5 signs your business website needs a redesign

Mikibrown Tech · 3 min read

Your website is often the first conversation a customer has with your business. If it is slow, confusing or outdated, many visitors will leave before you ever get the chance to speak to them. Here are five clear signs it is time for a redesign, and what to fix first.

1. It is hard to use on a phone

Most people will find you on a phone first. If they have to pinch and zoom, if buttons are too small to tap, or if text runs off the screen, they will not stay. Open your site on your own phone right now and try to contact yourself. If that takes more than a few seconds, mobile is the first thing to fix.

2. It loads slowly

Every extra second of loading time gives a visitor another reason to hit the back button. Common causes are oversized images, too many plugins and cheap hosting. A redesign is a good moment to compress images, remove what you do not need and move to faster hosting.

3. Visitors cannot tell what you do in five seconds

When someone lands on your homepage they should instantly understand what you offer, who it is for and what to do next. If your top section is a vague slogan or a slideshow, replace it with one clear headline, a short supporting line and a single obvious button such as "Get a quote" or "Book a call".

4. It looks different from the rest of your brand

If your logo, colours and tone on social media do not match your website, people notice, even if they cannot say why. Inconsistency makes a business feel less established. Your website should be the clearest, most complete version of your brand.

5. It does not bring you enquiries

A website is a sales tool, not a brochure. If nobody contacts you through it, look at the basics: is your phone number or WhatsApp easy to find, is there a simple contact form, and do you show proof such as reviews and past work? Small changes here often make the biggest difference.

What to do next

You do not always need to start from scratch. Sometimes a focused refresh of the homepage, mobile layout and contact flow is enough. At Mikibrown Tech we start by reviewing what is working and what is not, then recommend the simplest change that will get you results.
